Biographical Information

Joshua responded to God’s calling during his teenage years and developed a passion for Chinese congregational songs and singing. Little did he know, by God’s grace, this would lead him towards a DMA (Voice Performance, 2022) in Claremont Graduate University, after receiving his MM (Voice Performance, 2017) at Northwestern University, MCM (Piano, 2014) and BCM (Piano, 2009) at Singapore Bible College.

Joshua is grateful for all the ministry opportunities to practice what he learns and to serve God’s people. He was a fulltime pastor at Changi Bethany Presbyterian Church (Music, Youth and Children, 2009-2012). He was a doctoral worship intern at FCBC Walnut (California, USA, 2017-2020) where he coordinated the worship ministries of the Mandarin, Cantonese, and English congregations, and lead the church’s Combined and Children’s Choir.

Joshua’s teaching ministries extends to various countries. He was an adjunct faculty in worship and church music at Truth Theological Seminary 北美真道浸神 (California, USA, 2017-2021) and at SBC. He also gives seminars and workshops in the U.S.A., Southeast Asia, and East Asia. He also has close teaching and ministry relationship with parachurch organizations: Hallelujah Oratorio Society/哈利路亚圣乐社 (Singapore), Johor Chorale Music Society/新山圣乐团 (Malaysia), International Christian Choral Conductor Society(Asia), New Heart Music Ministries/新心音乐(USA/Singapore), Omnipro Music/欧赞音乐(Taiwan), Children of God Music/王子音乐(Taiwan/USA).

Joshua has performed as a concert soloist in the U.S.A., Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, notably for his performances of sacred repertoire, such as Handel’s Messiah and Bach Cantatas. He has also sung in notable choirs such as the Bienen Contemporary/Early Vocal Ensemble (Chicago), Grant Park Chorus (Chicago), Madison Choral Project (Wisconsin), and Amoris Singers (Singapore).

He hopes to continue guiding pastoral musicians to learn and practice historical-informed performances while connecting SCM to more Mandarin-speaking churches and ministries.

Joshua Chang is grateful for his wife, Zoe Yeoh, who journeys with him on this path of faith. They currently worship and serve at Logos Christian Church.
