The Certificate of Church Ministry (CCM)

JAN-JUN 2022 MODULES

SATURDAY

Journeys Beyond the Comfort Zone

01

The course seeks to answer the question, “What happens when we leave the familiar and the routine?” Through the lives of ten Bible characters, all away from their comfort zone, by choice or by circumstances, we will learn how every life-changing experience takes place away from home ground, from Abraham to Joseph in the Old Testament, from Mary to Paul in the New. Is God taking you to unfamiliar places and through unprecedented times? Find out why, and how we learn and grow best beyond the comfort zone.

Rev. Dr. David Wong

Rev Dr David Wong has pastored churches, taught in theological schools, and trained leaders from over 100 nations. A scholar, author and lyricist, he served till recently as senior pastor at Zion Bishan Bible-Presbyterian Church. He is married to Jenny and they have two married daughters and four grandchildren.

Counselling Youths
(15-24 years old)

02

In the 2016 Singapore Mental Health study, suicide is the leading cause of death for those between the ages of 10-29. 45% of new patients diagnosed each year are between 19 to 35 years old. What makes them so vulnerable? How do we help them?

WEDNESDAY

The Four Gospels: An Eschatological Reading

03

Trace how the Gospels portray Jesus as the New Moses performing the New Exodus and as the Apocalyptic Son of Man attaining his kingdom and initiating the Great Tribulation and as the Greater Son of David building the New Temple. We will learn how literary structures, overarching plots, and allusions to Old Testament help shed
light on these themes and correct common misinterpretations of Jesus’ sayings and parables.

Mr. David Lang

Mr David Lang is Associate Professor of Hermeneutics, Biblical and Systematic Theology in the School of Theology (English) at Singapore Bible College. He worships and preaches at Foochow Methodist Church, and is also actively involved in counseling and giving talks on grief, suffering and biblical perspective on miracles and healing.

THURSDAY

Following Christ in the Broken World of Work

04

Workplaces are filled with challenging people, systems and circumstances. Some workplaces can even be toxic. How then can we disciple believers who not merely survive the mundane and drudgery but thrive in the world of work? Can we expand the space where the world of church and the world of work intersect? How can the church leaders help believers navigate the perils of working life so that followers of Christ can truly be witnesses of the Gospel in a Broken World of Work?

Mr. Timothy Liu

Mr Timothy Liu spent 20 years working as a regional sales person covering Asia Pacific for tech and engineering products before working as CEO of Dover Park Hospice. His primary calling has been to serve God in the workplace and at the same time helping believers connect their faith with their work. He founded Marketplace Christian Network in 2001 and was also President of the Graduates’ Christian Fellowship (2007–14).
