Dear SBC Alumni

1 Chronicles 16:8 NKJV
Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among His peoples!

The Lord has led various of our alumni to serve him in their areas of strength. I met up with Rev Peter (DipTh 1983) and Mary Chen (DipTh 1989) OMF Queensland State Director when I was in Brisbane. I stayed with Rev Charles (BTh 1991) and Molly Chua (Special Student 1990) pastoring two small Presbyterian churches when I was in Wales.

Molly wrote in December:
I am just so glad to inform you of the joy of leading Ava, a new Chinese student to the Lord this afternoon.  For the last few Saturdays, she had gone through the 5 Evangelistic Bible lessons together with others. Today she came and told me that she wanted to be a Christian. I went through the usual questioning session as to what and why she wanted to be one. She expressed her need for God in her life and the lives of Christians around her have inspired her to be like them in following Jesus. So, I shared the Gospel with her again and she was certain that that was what she wanted to do: to be a follower of God through Jesus Christ! What a joy and what a privilege to lead her in prayer to the Lord! Please pray for her spiritual growth, new life in Christ & in the family of God!

New appointments:

Kango Lukito (BTh 2000) was ordained on June 5, 2009 in GKA Gloria, Jalan Pacar Surabaya.

Leslie Lim Kok Seng (MBS 199) was ordained as a Methodist Elder on 26 Nov 2009 in the 34th TRAC Session.

Lal Ngura (MCS 1997) has been appointed Mission General Secretary of the Christian Baptist Church of Myanmar. He concurrently functions as a Pastor and Director of Evangelism of Salem, CBCM

Selamet Yap (Special Student 2005) pastors a vibrant Indonesian group, an arm of a Korean Church in Hong Kong

Yee Ching Wah (MBS 1997) is now the Anglican Dean of Thailand.

As always we look forward to meeting returning alumni on campus especially on Thursdays for College chapel hour.  Alumni Lunch and Learn (12.30 – 2.00 pm) occurs once or twice per semester for those who can make it.  Let me know if a few would like to spend a Tuesday lunchtime together to chat, report, pray and eat.

Come July SBC will be co-hosting with Bartley Christian Church the Global
Consultation on Music and Mission (GCOMM). For details please look up the
SBC website.  There are areas in which you can play a vital part;
particularly, should you be interested to house one or two foreign
contributors (e.g. workshop leaders) do contact me directly.

Entering into a new decade

1 Chronicles 16:11
Seek the LORD and His strength’
Seek His face evermore!
What can we achieve but only by His all-sufficient grace and sovereign enabling. We believe in His wonderful provision and power as we press on ahead.

1 Chronicles 19:13
“Be of good courage, and let us be strong for our people and for the cities of our God. And may the LORD do what is good in His sight.”

Where can we go but glow anywhere with His abiding presence. We will flow along the places where His children (the believing disciples) are exercising His gifts and communities (the pre-believers) who are expectant of and ready to receive His priceless Gift.

Blessings and much prayer for our alumni colabourers, especially those in Malaysia. Sorrow looks back; Worry looks around; Faith looks up!
