Degree Students

Students enrolled in academic programmes are classified as degree students. Application is made through the Registrar's Office. Degree students may be full-time or part-time students.

  • Full-time students are required to take at least 15 hours of study per semester. By Singapore immigration regulations, all international students must be full-time students.

  • Part-time students(not applicable to School of Church Music) take less than 15 hours of study per semester. For time limits on the completion of programmes, please consult the respective academic offices. It is not compulsory for part-time students to participate in the SBC Choir, pastoral care group, and chapels on those days when they have no classes.

Non-degree Students

There are three categories of non-degree students: evening school students, audit students and special students.

  • Evening school students: These are students enrolled in non-credit evening courses or certificate programmes, namely, the Certificate in Christian Studies and the Certificate of Music Ministry. Evening school students are expected to fulfill course work requirements

  • Audit Students: Degree students and alumni may audit courses with permission of the lecturer and academic dean. Audit students are required to maintain regular attendance but no course work is assigned and no academic credit is given.

  • Special Students: Alumni and those who are actively involved in Christian ministry and who wish to pursue a specific area of study may apply to enroll as special students. Special students need to meet the pre-requisites for the courses they chose.

For School of Theology English, credits earned may be transferable if equivalent, and if transferred within three years. Special students may study for a maximum of two consecutive semesters and they may take up to 6 credit hours per semester.
