The use of the Old Testament in 1 Corinthians 10 has been controversial in recent scholarship. Does Paul here cite the OT according to its original context? Or does he use Jewish exegetical methods? This paper will examine the often overlooked citation of Exodus 32:6 in 1 Corinthians 10:7.
About the Speaker Dr Jerry Hwang is an Assistant Professor at Singapore Bible College. He is the author of the forthcoming book The Rhetoric of Remembrance: An Investigation of the “Fathers” in Deuteronomy, and has published numerous book reviews in scholarly journals. His PhD is from Wheaton College in Biblical Theology.
Fee S$10 for general public; S$5 for SBC alumni; S$5 for SBC students (special rate of S$3 per student for those who register through their respective class).
