PRACTICAL POINTERS

for SBC alumni entering into another phase of ministry

DURING THE WAITING PERIOD of those starting afresh or in-between assignments

  • Prayerful and seeking the Lord’s will through reading and meditating on His word

  • Proactive in search especially visiting on-site

  • Preparing for interview with an adequate resume, recently updated as the case may be

  • Prioritising options, if any, with the good counsel of those who know you

  • Practical engagement in activities, time permitting before starting work as in physical and emotional health management, personal matters (e.g. marriage, children, finances), improving interpersonal relationships and so

DURING THE FIRST STAGE OF (ANOTHER) MINISTRY EMPLOYMENT

  • Observe why and how things are being done

  • Orientate yourself to the situation you are in

  • Obey the rules and regulations without trying to change things immediately

  • Organise personal work station

  • Operate according to the identifiable job description, this being agreed upon at the beginning when you signed on
