Report on Mission Emphasis Week

Singapore Bible College’s Mission Emphasis Week was held on March 4-7. The theme was “Beautiful Footsteps,” taken from Romans 10:15, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" We learned how the gospel is advanced in mission fields, the obstacles faced, the fruits borne, the challenges encountered, and the victories won.

There were two speakers for the week. On Tuesday chapel, Rev. James Lai Mook Sum, Director of CNEC - Southeast Asia (in Singapore) used Romans 10:15 to challenge us to be obedient to the call of God, to bring the good news to the nations.

On Wednesday, Dr. Patrick Fung, General Director of OMF International used the lives of three women—Mary, Joanna and Susanna (Luke 8:2-3)—to urge us to have a grateful heart, a willing heart and a humble heart for God. On Friday, he set Priscilla, Aquila, Epaphroditus, and Caleb as models of faith for those who give their lives to God and serve Him with passion.

A film, End of the Spear, was shown on Thursday (6/3) morning. It tells the moving story of five American missionaries who went to Amazon forest to preach to the natives. The five men were all killed by the natives. Not intimidated, the wives and children went back to live with the natives, converting them to Christ.

Students from different countries set up booths on Friday afternoon, introducing their cultures, pictures, arts, customs and food. It was an enriching time.

The Mission Week culminated with the International Night on Friday night. Faculties and students from different countries sang, danced and performed skits, showing the uniqueness of each culture, as well as demonstrating how the gospel is preached in different cultures.
