Tour Objectives:
This study tour is organized by the Singapore Bible College (SBC) for the students, staff, faculty, friends and supporters of SBC. Its objectives are to help the tour participants…
- gain a better understanding of the history, geography and cultural backdrop of the Bible,
- develop a greater appreciation of different cultures,
- cultivate awareness of one’s biases and prejudices,
- critically compare the biblical traditions and later traditions of certain biblical texts,
- appreciate the significance of archaeology for the study of the Bible,
- and understand how history is not based on “brute facts” but involves the interpretation of events.
Tour Leaders:
The tour will be divided into two language-based groups. The Chinese-speaking group will be led by the Rev. Dr. Michael Phua (SOTC) and the English-speaking group by the Rev. Dr. Bernard Low (SOTE).
Tour Operator
SBC has engaged the Educational Tour Arm of CCL Publications Pte. Ltd. to handle all the arrangements for flights, food and board, insurance, and land tours.
Tour Dates
24 Nov – 7 Dec 2008. The dates are subject to confirmation depending on flight availability.
Tour Fee (Full Board)
The present estimated cost for the tour is $3,700. If the oil prices continue to escalate next year, we may expect to pay more. The actual cost will include the following:
- $500 non-refundable deposit by 31st January
- All airfares
- All hotel accommodation
- All meals, including lunches but minus beverages
- All entrance fees
- All tips and portage at airports and hotels, including the drivers and guides
- Tour buses and airport transfers
- Tour and song books
- Border taxes and other land arrangements
Note that the tour fee DOES NOT include personal expenses.
